What about loose-laid decking?

Our flooring specialist will visit your place to provide an assessment and provide a quotation based on the site needs.

Step 2 - Permit Submission & MCST Approval
If you live in a condominium, technical specification sheets and project details are prepared to assist with your MCST application before work begins.

Step 3 - Onsite Delivery, Storage and Handling
Plan delivery and allocation of space to keep materials clean and undamaged prior to installation. All decking material must be stored flat and horizontal on a level ground surface without causing site obstructions.

Step 4 – Preparation
Prior to the commencement of installation, our installers shall inspect the sub floor. Our installer will determine the best decking orientation for the optimal view and mark out the work area before starting.

Step 5 - Installation of Decking
Our specialists will first install the aluminum hollow section battens onto the cement screed or tiles using adhesive and adjust with rubber shims to achieve a level base, ensuring adjacent battens are properly aligned at a recommended 300–350 mm center-to-center spacing. Once the sub-frame is secured, they will lay the decking boards in a randomized pattern unless specified otherwise. The end result will include a 3 mm perimeter gap along surrounding walls to accommodate thermal expansion and facilitate proper drainage.

Validation Rules
To keep warranty coverage active, decks require only routine sweeping, periodic washing with mild soap and water, and keeping subfloor drains clear of debris. No staining or sealing is ever required.
Plank Replacement
Damaged boards can be unclipped and replaced individually, though replacement boards may show slight color variance when matched against naturally weathered surrounding planks.
Service Policy
Floorrich provides repair and maintenance support exclusively for decking systems originally supplied and installed by our team.

Use a maximum pressure of 1,500 psi fitted with a fan tip nozzle. Always spray in the direction of the wood grain, apply a suitable deck cleaner, and observe all safety precautions to avoid damaging the material.

Mildew & Debris Prevention
Regularly hose down the deck to clear away dirt, pollen, and organic debris that feed mildew growth. Ensure drainage gaps between planks remain clear so water drains effectively and the surface dries quickly.
Caution
Do NOT use solvent-based cleaners such as thinner or turpentine, as they will permanently damage the decking.

Where composite pulls ahead is maintenance: timber needs regular oiling or staining to stop it drying out and greying, while FirmaDeck just needs washing.
Does composite decking get mould or algae, and does drainage matter?
Yes, if water is left standing. FirmaDeck resists rot and doesn’t feed mould the way untreated timber can, but algae can still grow on any outdoor surface, composite included, where water pools instead of draining away. This is why drain position and drainage fall matter so much in how your deck is built.
How much maintenance does composite decking actually need, compared to timber?
In terms of ease of maintenance and overall costs, FirmaDeck is low maintenance compared to timber.FirmaDeck composite wood decking needs occasional sweeping and washing. It does not need oiling or staining every 6 to 12 months unlike natural wood decking.
Will FirmaDeck change colour over time?
Like most outdoor materials, some colour change from UV exposure is normal over time. A certain level of minor lightening is expected during the initial months and colour changes are not covered under warranty.
What is the difference between interlocking or removable deck tiles and fixed decking?
Interlocking composite wood decking tiles sit above your existing floor without needing to be installed into the sub-structure. Compared to fix decking, they don’t need MCST approval as there are no modifications done to the underlying structure. Interlocking and removable wood plastic composite decking tiles are an excellent option for outdoor spaces in Singapore for renters or anyone who isn’t ready to commit to a fixed installation.
